Tonight is another late night…
So I present to you a poem from Kahlil Gibran’s The Madman:
The Seven Selves
In the stillest hour of the night, as I lay half asleep, my seven selves sat together and thus conversed in whisper:
First Self: Here, in this madman, I have dwelt all these years, with naught to do but renew his pain by day and recreate his sorrow by night. I can bear my fate no longer, and now I rebel.
Second Self: Yours is a better lot than mine, brother, for it is given to me to be this madman’s joyous self. I laugh his laughter and sing his happy hours, and with thrice winged feet I dance his brighter thoughts. It is I that would rebel against my weary existence.
Third Self: And what of me, the love-ridden self, the flaming brand of wild passion and fantastic desires? It is I the love-sick self who would rebel against this madman.
Fourth Self: I, amongst you all, am the most miserable, for naught was given me but odious hatred and destructive loathing. It is I, the tempest-like self, the one born in the black caves of Hell, who would protest against serving this madman.
Fifth Self: Nay, it is I, the thinking self, the fanciful self, the self of hunger and thirst, the one doomed to wander without rest in search of unknown things and things not yet created; it is I, not you, who would rebel.
Sixth Self: And I, the working self, the pitiful labourer, who, with patient hands, and longing eyes, fashion the days into images and give the formless elements new and eternal forms–it is I, the solitary one, who would rebel against this restless madman.
Seventh Self: How strange that you all would rebel against this man, because each and every one of you has a preordained fate to fulfill. Ah! could I but be like one of you, a self with a determined lot! But I have none, I am the do-nothing self, the one who sits in the dumb, empty nowhere and no when, while you are busy re-creating life. Is it you or I, neighbors, who should rebel?
When the seventh self thus spake the other six selves looked with pity upon him but said nothing more; and as the night grew deeper one after the other went to sleep enfolded with a new and happy submission.
But the seventh self remained watching and gazing at nothingness, which is behind all things.
Due to the fact that I couldn’t sleep, I read this book and I am very greatful. If you have any free time to read it, you should. It would probably take you a little less than 30 minutes.

For those who actually read this thing, the book I quoted in my last post was…
Here are some pictures from the last Buckeye show:

Me playing Harmonica

While at Tury & Danielson’s house, Danielson and I were watching the Food Channel and got the idea to cook something. We looked around the kitchen and decided on Beer battered fish and potatoes.

Tury bought Electronic Monopoly … and its amazing. We’ve played about 10 times since he bought it, twice with a $5 buy in.

Instead of money, you use “credit cards” with this device dubbed “the defibrillator”

One word, AMAZING!!!
So we recently started getting into biking again, so we took apart Tury’s bike to fix it up and paint it.

Cant wait to get my bike.
This summer as Danielson said in his blog…

So a lot has happened as of late but I still dont own a digital camera. Last week my mother helped me build the frame of my project amp. I will get some pictures of it up here soon. My new amp arrived and is awesome. The reason why I have yet to buy a digital camera is because my spending money went to our first Leatherfist Records release, thats right an actual 7″. Im really excited for the test pressings to get in. Im also excited because all those days of talk have actually come true, now hopefully we can get this thing going well enough to sustain itself.
As for today, I had a really good day. A heart warming day. Christina’s mother worked a long day and was ready to cook dinner for the family, so I decided that I wanted to help. Christina’s family has been nothing but amazing to me so I wanted to do something nice too. Christina and I made dinner while her mother got to relax. It was a lot of fun, definitely a very memorable time, too bad I didnt have a camera. HA! On another note, we had a show tonight that was pretty good. Playing a good show always leaves me with a euphoric feeling. I know Danielson took some pictures so Ill try and get those from him and put them up.
I’ve had to read this multiple times for school and Ive grown to love it more and more with each time. So answer this riddle and you will know the story.
“And yet his fortune brings him little joy;
For blind of seeing, clad in beggar’s weeds,
For purple robes, and leaning on his staff,
To a strange land he soon shall grope his way.
And of the children, inmates of his home,
He shall be proved the brother and the sire,
Of her who bare him son and husband both,
Co-partner, and assassin of his sire.
Go in and ponder this, and if thou find
That I have missed the mark, henceforth declare
I have no wit nor skill in prophecy.”
I will post a link to the book in my next update.
